Mapping Biology Knowledge: Science & Technology Education Library by Kathleen M. Fisher, Mapping Biology Knowledge addresses two key topics in the context of biology, promoting meaningful learning and knowledge mapping as a strategy for achieving this goal. Meaning-making and meaning-building are examined from multiple perspectives throughout the book. In many biology courses, students become so mired in detail that they fail to grasp the big picture. Various strategies are proposed for helping instructors focus on the big picture, using the need to know' principle to decide the level of detail students must have in a given situation. The metacognitive tools described here serve as support systems for the mind, creating an arena in which learners can operate on ideas. They include concept maps, cluster maps, webs, semantic networks, and conceptual graphs. These tools, compared and contrasted in this book, are also useful for building and assessing students' content and cognitive skills. The expanding role of computers in mapping biology knowledge is also explored.
Atlas of America: Our Nation in Maps, Facts, and Pictures This extraordinary reference brings together large-scale maps of all 50 states; almanac-style summaries of revised, up-to-date facts about each state; concise portraits of their history and development; descriptions of noteworthy sites and scenic wonders; and glorious full-color photographs. The over 200 easy-to-read maps show interstate highways and major roads, cities and towns, lakes, rivers, mountains, and other topographical features, plus selected points of interest. In addition to the state maps, there are dozens of special maps--from close-ups of metropolitan areas to unusual items such as an irrigation map of California, a delta map of Louisiana, and a railroad map of Illinois. Filled with maps, facts, photographs, and special features, here is a complete, accessible resource that captures the land and its people, places, and past--a colorful celebration of America.

With PiP feature of TV, one program will be displayed on the entire TV screen, and another program or programs will be displayed in individual smaller squares on the screen. Gamera - Gamera (ガメラ) is a giant, tusked, flying turtle from a popular series of daikaiju eiga produced by Daiei Motion Picture Company in Japan. Reversed map - A reversed map, also known as an Upside-Down map or South-Up map, is a world map that generally show Australia and New Zealand at the top of the map instead of the bottom. They are usually sold in Australia, New Zealand and other southern hemisphere countries.
